audio & video

Tying sound with picture doesn't have to be complicated; simplicity often completes the more advanced experiments. Which works for as I'm simple and complex. My first step is to download a song onto a DVR-W. Then I will download specific sports pictures on top of the music piece selection. More later.

  1. You'll want to be sure the song is in a format Movie Maker can handle. That might not happen if you record it from a CD. But you can MAKE it work, regardless of the form of the audio source. Just open audacity, hit record, and play the song on your computer. It will record any sound coming from your computer. You can then export it as an mp3 or wav or some other format Movie Maker can use.

Easy! For more specific details (including useful pictures of the program in action) see the audacity tutorial on the subject that I posted at our course blog. You can get to it via the label "audacity" or "tutorial" amongst the other labels listed on the upper right-hand side of the screen.

  2. OK, here I am to mention downloading the audio is turning out to be more complex than I had originally thought, but ok, challenges are how we strengthen our skills. I am having fun working on my video. I think Movie Maker is very user-friendly, which makes making a project more fun. I have pretty much thought out how I want this project to turn out, if I can just get past my intimidation of audio editing. More later.

  3. Yeah, editing audio can be intimidating. Perhaps we can play a little more with that together. Once you get a chance to really spend some uninterrupted time with it, it'll likely begin to make some sense.

Glad to hear you are enjoying the MovieMaker portion of it, though. That's my favorite part!
